Thankful Heart
In Illinois, USA, where I live, there is plenty of farmland in every direction. Farmers started out this spring unable to get into their fields due to very rainy, cold weather putting them way behind planting corn and soybeans. Now, as the harvest is winding up, the farmers can stop and look back at the bountiful harvest and give thanks to God for helping them.
We, too, need to stop and give thanks to God for all he has given us. We are truly blessed. We may not have everything we want, but we are given what is most needful. We need to be
thankful for what we have been given. I will thank you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of
all the marvelous things you have done. I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing
praises to your name, O Most High. Psalm 9:1-2
God loves to hear us give him our thanks and our love. He cares deeply about us and everything that affects our lives. Talk to him, tell him whatever is on your heart. He knows and understands your wants and will meet your needs. Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:32-34
Sometimes in our roles as parents and spouses we are expected to do or handle things right
now ... often at the last minute. It doesn’t matter how big or small the deed is that we are to do, it
deserves a ‘Thank You’. Those simple words seem to get lost from time to time, and this can leave a scar on one’s heart. To be told ‘Thank you’ puts a smile on one’s face and warms one’s heart.
One’s family may need a reminder to appreciate the things they have, including the family with which they are blessed, and to be thankful for the loving heavenly Father who watches over them.
God feels the same way when we don’t stop and show a grateful heart for all he does for us each day. He wants us to be thankful. We should not look to him and expect that it is ‘his job’ to bless us without a ‘Thank you’ in return.
Our Father’s love is so great and his deeds are awesome. Rejoice and be thankful to him!
Give thanks to God for he is good and his mercy is everlasting.
Let’s give thanks always!
